The Gamecock Chess Club is a student-run club at the University of South Carolina. Each week, we meet twice for casual and generally unrated games. We also partner with organizations in Columbia to help our members get involved in rated play and chess outreach. All are welcome regardless of skill level or background—our events are all free and provide chess sets, so come check us out and play some games with us whenever works with your schedule!
A typical meeting: each week, at least one of our meetings is devoted to playing casual games. When you arrive, anyone should be happy to play a game if you ask them! We often switch opponents throughout the meetings as well, which last around two hours.
The best way to get up-to-date information about us is to join our GroupMe: people discuss the club and ask questions here, and we'll send times and locations of every event as well as reminders the days they're happening.
