When do you meet?
Our meeting times change from semester to semester, but for Spring 2025 our recurring meetings are Tuesdays and Fridays from 4-6 PM.
Where do you meet?
For Fall 2024, we'll start off meeting outside on Davis Fields (weather-permitting), and then eventually start meeting inside in Russell House 302. We encourage joining the GroupMe to stay up-to-date about meeting details and any last-minute changes.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nope! We provide sets and clocks, and all our events are free (unless otherwise specified).
How beginner-friendly is the club?
All skill levels are completely welcome. We have events specifically to help beginners improve, and we'd love to help you get started with practicing if you're starting your chess journey. You may get more out of a meeting if you start learning the rules beforehand, but any place you're starting from is great.
Will I feel out of place?
Our number one priority is that everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, etc., has fun and feels welcome at our events. Chess is a universal game—anyone can learn and improve with practice! Unfortunately, we also recognize that there are barriers in parts of the global chess community that can make it harder for some to get involved than others, so we want to emphasize that we would love to have you no matter your background.
